Hachinohe Junior College

Our Junior College division offers two departments: the Department of Childhood Education and the Department of Care and Welfare. We provide an optimal environment for students to realize their future dreams and support them with our full commitment. Both departments begin practical training in the first year, deepening students’ learning through a cycle of classroom study and on-site experience to cultivate solid practical skills.

The Department of Childhood Education aims to train childcare professionals based on the principle that “people nurture people.” Students gain practical knowledge on creating environments that promote child development, while also focusing on practical skills centered on “music art, and physical activity” to broaden their personal horizons. To this end, the department actively organizes presentations and events both on and off campus, providing ample opportunities for students to interact with children at the university’s affiliated kindergartens. Furthermore, in April 2025, we launched a three-year program in addition to the existing two-year program, offering educational options tailored to students’ goals and lifestyles.

The Department of Nursing Care and Welfare is dedicated to training “Specialist in Welfare Care.” To this end, students deepen their comprehensive understanding of nursing care and welfare—including related fields such as healthcare—and engage in research seminars designed to cultivate critical thinking skills. Furthermore, as an institution for training care professionals, we welcome not only young people but also those pursuing nursing care and welfare as a second career. We are advancing initiatives to shape the future of our community, including the implementation of continuing education programs aimed at improving the quality of care.
